This beautiful, delicate brooch is made with a dark garnet colored semi transparent celluloid. The piece has a modern safety catch which was first widely used in the 1920’s. I think that this pin dates from the twenties, because light weight small pins was popular then, because the gauzy, floaty fabrics could not support heavy jewelry.
