Autumn Jasper Set Intarsia 40X30X7 mm W/Adjustable 24″ Waxed Cotton Cord, 103 Ct

This necklace is set intarsia. Intarsia is a term for the inlay technique of using thinly cut and polished stones to create images, usually in two dimension. The stonework is glued to a substrate after having been sliced, cut and then assembled together so precisely that the contact between the sections is practically invisible. Intarsia is a high expression of lapidary art requiring a close mastery. Each piece is eccentric and highly collectible. I did not make this intarsia, but I did assemble it into a wearable necklace. Intarsia items are generally crafted on green, white or black base stones. The framework for this intarsia is inlaid in a sealed black acrylic material. Expect to pay $100. more for intarsia inlaid in stone. The inlaid autumn jasper is a genuine gemstone. Autumn jasper is found all over the world, but is often found in India, Madagascar and South Africa. The piece measures 40 X 30 X 7 mm’s and weighs 103 carats. The top portion was drilled from end to end. I inserted a steel wire through the holes and securely glued them. There are two 6 mm bead caps covering the holes. The intarsia is hung from an 8 X 3 mm sterling silver filled bail. The pendant includes a brown 24 inch adjustable waxed cotton cord, 1.5 mm’s thick with a lobster claw clasp. Objets d’art, is a French term meaning “art objects”. For the gem artist, objets d’art, are the natural marriage of the finest artistic materials and the vision of the artist. Keeping to this idea, this reminds me of a framed master painting. This is a marriage of mother nature and mankind’s appreciation of the beauty of nature, a framed piece of art. What do I see in this masterpiece, a satellite view of the coast along a rocky shore. An art dealer would adore this, a gem stone enthusiast would love wearing art around their neck… I have photographed the necklace in LED lighting. The pictures have been enlarged to show detail, it is shown next to a quarter for size reference. The necklace includes a red gift box for safe storage between wearing. I guarantee my jewelry 100%. His grandfather mastered many knots during his travels, and these skills were handed down to others in the family, eventually creating what is today Mystic Knotwork. This traditional bracelet, made with hard-laid cotton, has been handcrafted on the Connecticut coast for three generations. Mystic Knotwork is a family business entering its fourth generation since starting in 1957. Our goal is to provide the most authentic nautical knot decorations carrying the maritime traditions of Mystic and our family that hails from there.
