Celtic mythology also considered the wolf to rule over winter, which was the time from Halloween to February. A wolf was also the companion animal to the Celtic goddess Cerridwen (goddess of the moon and fertility) and to the god Cernunnos (the horned forest god of life, animals, fertility, wealth, and the underworld).
