TODAY FOR AUCTION 1890’s Antique Handmade 14k White Gold 0.29ct Diamond and Ceylon Sapphire Pin Brooch, 3.69 grams Graded M This exquisite, handmade from A to Z, 14kt white gold diamond and sapphire pin brooch is stunning. The intricate, hand-carved detail seen throughout this piece is incredible. From the elegant filigree designs to the romantic Fleur-de-lis designs, all embellished with a gorgeous milgrain design trim. The mounting also has decorative open-face designs on the sides. The brooch features a 0.09ct I-color, SI2-clarity, natural-not-enhanced, bright white fiery old mine cut diamond. This hand-cut diamond has a perfect dispersion of light, so it sparkles with all-of-the bright colors of a rainbow. There are also 2-natural triangular-shaped Ceylon sapphire gemstones with a most desirable deep blue color.​ All-of-the gems were bezel and prong-set in a 1.5″ long, 0.55″ wide, handmade pin mounting. The mounting is very bright and white because, before modern times, white gold was manufactured only using platinum, palladium, or rhodium as an additional alloy. The good thing is that white gold will stay white for a lifetime. The heads for the stones were separately hand-crafted and hand-soldered to the mounting. The pin on the back is thick, and the handmade mechanism, first invented in the 1890s, is in perfect working order. One of the sapphires is chipped, as shown in the pictures, it does not take away from the beauty of this lovely antique piece.
