How cloisonné beads are made in China. A copper bead is created with hammering and welding. Cells (cloisonné) of wire are created and soldered on each bead. they are filled with enamel and fired in a kiln, then three or more thin layers of enamel are added and fired, never a thick layer or the enamel will bubble up and burn. Initial grinding is done to smooth the enamel down to the wire outlining, then it is polished and polished again to a high shine. Finally, 24k gold electroplating is performed to make each cell outline in gold. What a process for a single bead!
