Jean Painleve ( 1902-1989) was a photographer and filmmaker who specialized in underwater fauna and started a line of Bakelite and Brass jewelry in the forms of seahorses. Constructed of “French Bakelite” which is a phenolic resin such as Galalith or Catalin.
