This listing is for a cool-looking, 14K yellow gold ladies ring featuring three round natural tsavorite garnets, each measuring approximately 1.75 mm in diameter and with an actual total weight of 0.11 carat. Garnet is not really a kind of gemstone, but rather a family of related gem species. Tsavorite is one of the rarer and more expensive varieties of garnet that occurs in green colors. These particular gemstones resemble fine, bright emeralds. They are medium, moderately strong green in color, and are of good overall cut. They are borderline eye clean with some flaws breaking the surfaces of the gems…but aren’t cloudy like we have all come to expect with natural emeralds of this color. These tsavorite garnets are 100% genuine, natural, untreated, and unenhanced. Garnet is January’s birthstone, but this ring is a joy to own and wear regardless of your birth month! The mounting is by the New York company ALA Casting Co., which has largely morphed into Overnight Mountings Co. They are a well-established firm; my father did business with the current owners’ grandfathers as far back as the early 1960s! The ring weighs a very substantial 4.6 grams and is approximately 8.5 mm wide at the top. It is currently finger size 5.5 (to the large side of 5.5, but closer to 5.5 than 5.75) and is easily sizable by any competent jeweler. This ring was priced at $995 in our brick and mortar fine jewelry store that closed in 2020.
