This costume jewelry company was originally called the Providence Jewelry Co.; it was founded in 1935 by Abraham Lisker. When Abraham Lisker’s brother Nathan joined the company, the name was changed to Lisker & Lisker Inc. Production was halted during World War 2. In 1943, near the end of the war, the company was reformed and called the Jonette Jewelry Company, from a combination of their parents names–John & Etta. Marked with the initials “J.J.”, their jewelry–mostly figural and novelty pins, including Christmas pins–is very beloved for it’s originality and cuteness–and is highly collectible. Here’s a delightful VINTAGE JJ CHRISTMAS WREATH WITH BOW & SLEEPING CHERUB ANGEL HOLIDAY BROOCH/ PIN. It is Signed “JJ” for Jonette Jewelry Company–and it is circa 1980’s. Well-made brooch is dimensional pewter with 2 tones of gold–matte/brushed & shiny. It has fabulous detail and features a pretty bow, red & green enameled ornaments, detailed leaves, and a sleeping cherub angel. IT’S ADORABLE! 🙂 Large brooch measures approximately 2 1/8″ x 2″ x 3/8″ and weighs 0.7 oz. It has a locking rollover C clasp in working condition. Has very slight surface wear with just a tiny bit of enamel loss on some of the ornaments, although the majority of the color is intact. Overall, it looks great in person and is definitely still in EXCELLENT NEAR-MINT vintage condition.
