Rectangular opal doublet cabochon, approximately 15 to 18 mm long by 12 to 15 mm wide. Precious opal layer on top showing green play of color across most of the dome, bonded to a dark backing (potch, ironstone, or black glass) in the classic doublet construction. One small brown matrix / inclusion spot near the upper left of the dome. Small drilled hole on one edge indicates the stone was previously mounted as a pendant; mild edge wear near the drill. Doublets are a real category of opal jewelry, NOT solid opal; listed accordingly. Buyers seeking solid opal pricing should pass. Estate fresh.
