This striking pendant features a beautifully marked Polychrome Picture Jasper with antiqued brass bail. The pendant itself measures about 1.5 inches in length, including the bail. Polychrome Jasper comes from Madagascar, and is a microcrystalline variety of Chalcedony. Every piece that is collected out of the jasper mines is dug by hand, and some of the largest boulders that are excavated out of the vein deposits can reach upwards of 140 lbs each. The colors are amazing, ranging from caramel, to cream, to rust, mauve and bluish gray. This piece is available because I'm currently in the process of liquidating my stock of cabochons and faceted gems, as arthritis is preventing me from making much new jewelry. Over the last 20 years I have acquired lots (too many, actually!) of really beautiful specimens, but now is the time for me to retire.
