***********The original hacking movement was given a complete overhaul in April 2021. A new battery was installed on 12/20/23. It runs strong, keeps time to within specs (+-30 seconds per day) and the date wheel rolls over as it should.******** This seldom seen vintage Yema Superman has a matte black dial that is in pristine condition, free of any visibly noticeable scratching, chipping or defects. The lume on the dial and hands, which remains fully intact and no longer glows after being exposed to bright light, has aged to a perfectly matching warm buttermilk hue. In my humble opinion the dial and patina combination couldn't be more pleasing. The stainless steel bezel with worn black insert smoothly ratchets counterclockwise and presents nicely with the inverted triangle lume complementing the patina nicely. The all stainless steel case shows minor wear with no visible signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "ALL STAINLESS STEEL WATERRESISTANT 300M QUARTZ" with "T9 001 6" stamped in the center. The crystal shows very light scratching which is visually imperceptible in person. The original SHIOJIRI, Ltd stamped 3 jewels unadjusted Y112A quartz movement with quickset date function and hacking feature is exceptionally clean, runs strong and received a complete overhaul in April 2021. No service paperwork will be provided. A new battery was installed on 12/20/23. It keeps time to within specs (+-30 seconds per day) and the date wheel rolls over as it should. The quickset date function works flawlessly by unscrewing the crown, pulling it out to the first position and then turning it clockwise until the desired date has been reached. The screwdown crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should. Not all vintage Yema Superman's came with a bezel lock. Considering that this watch was purchased from the original owner who had never had it previously serviced I have no reason to believe this example was originally sold with one. This watch measures approximately 38 mm excluding the crown, approximately 43 mm including the crown and approximately 19 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 8.5 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 10 mm. This watch comes on a period correct one keeper 19 mm curved lug ends "GERMANY" stamped band with "STAINLESS STEEL" stamped straight edge buckle that is in near NOS, fully pliable condition. Although the movement is currently running strong and keeping accurate time, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
