This gorget is made from food shell collected by the Manasota Culture 500-2000 years ago. I love working with shell that they themselves harvested and touched. I use very few power tools. I finish the outside of the shell using Manasota grinding stones that I have found. Edge work is done with files. Ancient shell is very hard and unforgiving. This is the “forked eye” design prevalent throughout the South East indigenous tribes. Thank you for looking. This was not written by Ai .
